Feasibility of cold-weather earthwork
Cold-weather earthwork experiences of northern states of United States, provinces of Canada, and Scandinavian countries were studied to define manner in which winter weather and soil conditions restrict length of construction season, designs and construction practices employed to cope with winter conditions, and estimate of relative unit costs for various winter operations; results led to conclusion that cold-weather earthwork is economically as well as technically feasible on many highway projects in frost area of North America.
