Model study of flow in steep tile drains
Sixty foot laboratory model drains were constructed in civil engineering hydraulics laboratory at Purdue University to study flow in drains on steep slopes; drains were tested on slopes from 1 to 6% with diam of 3, 4, and 5 in., with 2 degrees of roughness and with discharge rates up to pressure flow; 5 different flow regimes were observed to occur at transition from part full to full flow.
