On determination of true tensile strength of concrete
Tensile strengths of concrete as obtained from flexure test on plain concrete beams, cylinder split test, cube split test and torsion test on solid cylinders, are compared for different concrete strengths; method to determine true tensile strength as percentage of compressive strength of concrete obtained from cube test is suggested; true tensile strength of given concrete is shown to be slightly greater than value given by cube or cylinder split test of torsion test, but considerably less than value given by flexure test.
