Ultimate strength with high strength reinforcing steel with indefinite yield point
Investigation was conducted to determine ultimate member strength by more exact calculations when particular steel and stress-strain curve were used, and to provide verification of predicted strengths for sample beams and columns; member curvature, strain distribution, and maximum concrete strain were also observed for typical members; steels used had yield strength at 0.002 offset of 75 and 99.5 kips/sq in.; five beams reinforced with compression and tension steel and three symmetrically reinforced concrete columns under varying eccentricity were tested.
