Series of tests carried out at Land Reclamation, Irrigation and Power Research Institute, Amritsar, to investigate suitability of surkhi as workability agent are described; results indicate that, because of presence of extra fines, surkhi fulfills this function without any detrimental effect on strength of concrete.
