Behavior of mortar filled steel tubes in compression
Elastic and inelastic behavior of mortar filled tubes, used as structure columns, was investigated; work was restricted to seamless tubes ranging from 1 to 3 in. in diam; experimental values of ultimate axial load capacities were compared to theoretical values obtained from tangent modulus formula, and corresponding empty tubes were tested to provide basis for comparison of strength between empty and filled tubes.
