A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Use of welded steel plate-girders in bridge construction has developed economies in design, fabrication and erection, and provided new design freedom, including fabrication of girders on horizontal curves; Buffalo Bayou Bridge, Tex, Nisqually River Bridge, Wash, Whiskey Creek Bridge, Calif, and Calcasieu River and Ship Channel Bridge, La, are cited as examples of plate-girder bridges; chemical analysis and physical properties of types of readily weldable ASTM steels commonly used in structures are tabulated.
