A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Studies of steel deck bridge designs were made to determine most advantageous type and arrangement of structural components and economy in short to medium-span range; economy is enhanced by increasing rib spans between floor beams, improving structural efficiency of closed-rib system while materially reducing fabrication costs; additional advantages of steel deck designs are better load-carrying capacity, lighter deadweight and shorter erection time.
