Precast span has large economy size design
New structural system which allows long span structure to be made up of precast elements, and uses equipment and techniques available in many prestressing plants, is being used for 180-ft center span bridge, under construction over Sebastian Inlet in Florida; bridge is 1548 ft long with 5% grades connected by crest vertical curve of 1200 ft; foundations are pedestal piers on concrete piles; 7 ft 8 in. pedestrian walks and fishing areas underneath bridge deck consist of 2 precast, pretensioned Lin Tee sections with 3 ft 6 in. flanges joined by cast-in-place 8 in. closure.
