`Greenhouses' protected winter bridge concreting
Construction methods used for widening 4-lane Bulkeley Bridge which spans Connecticut River in downtown Hartford and converting bridge to 8 lanes; features of method to make 3-sided cofferdam watertight against old pier is described; side and roof panels of various design were used for enclosing concreting areas and kept heaced by electric-powered space heaters at 60 F for 5 days and 40 F or warmer for another 9 days.
