Austrians prefabricate arched falsework for arch bridge
Prefabricated steel arch scaffold that uses no vertical supports was used to build 197-ft-long concrete arch bridge in Lessach Valley, Austria; 6 concrete columns, spaced about 33 ft apart, will rest on arch to support nearly level concrete deck; each scaffold assembly rests on pinned, specially designed support on footing which allows precise, though limited, vertical positioning of each of 2 sickle-shaped scaffold sections.
