Prediction of coating-grade asphalt weatherability from asphaltene-dispersibility data
Dispersibility of least soluble asphaltenes shows good linear correlation with Weather-Ometer durability for coating grade roofing asphalts made by air blowing straight-run, blended crude oil, ferric-chloride-catalyzed residue, and oil fluxed stocks; asphalts blown from phosphoric-acid-catalyzed residue show poor correlation; modification of original procedure for titration of xylene solutions of asphalt with n-heptane is presented.
