Phoenix airport terminal building -- Prestressed challenge
Roof of new Phoenix municipal airport terminal consists of 22 8-ft-wide prestressed T-beams, 152 ft long, supported on cast-in-place concrete girders; T-beams have clear span of 84 ft and cantilever 34 ft at each end; combination pre-tensioned and post-tensioned design was approved for building, subject to testing for deflection control; deflection analysis, load tests, and field deflections are discussed.
