Medical research council's cyclotron
Cyclotron at Hammersmith Hospital is 45 in. machine; in preliminary trials, internal beam of 30-mev alpha particles is obtained and beam currents of up to 750 microamps of singly charged hydrogen molecular ions measured at 6-in. radius; it is erected above ground surrounded by 6-ft thick concrete walls and roof. (see also Engineering v 179 n 4665 June 24 1955 p 803-5)
