Prestressed concrete slab bridges with stiffened edges
Bridge consists of precast slabs placed side by side with provision for lateral prestressing; curbs or footpaths can be used as edge beams; after lateral prestressing slab and edge beams constitute complete superstructure; this type of bridge is especially suitable for spans up to 50 ft, where ratio of width to span is equal to or greater than 0.6. See also Engineering Index 1953 p 128.
