Summing up on joint sawing for heavy airfield pavements
Studies by Omaha District, Corps of Engineers, showed that concrete slabs must be cut before internal temperature of slab drops appreciably if control of cracking is to be assured; temperature studies at different locations and during different seasons; saw cut equal to 1/6th pavement thickness found adequate in controlling cracking.
