Govan refuse power plant
Nov. 9: Main object of works, apart from collection and disposal of refuse of greater part of Glasgow is generation of electricity; plant installed is designed to supply 3-phase current at 50 cycles; plant installed for treating and incinerating refuse and generating electricity. Nov. 23: Details of screen house; design of grates used for dealing with refuse. Dec. 7: Generating plant consists of two Fraser and Chalmers G.E.C. turbo-alternators, each with output of 5000 kw.; turbines are of high-pressure type, supplied with steam at pressure of 190 lb. per sq. in. and temperature of 638 deg. fahr.; condensers are of Mirrlees-Watson True-flow type; arrangements for dealing with clinker.
