Soviet tunnelling machines
ShBM-lu tunneling machine mechanizes cutting and loading operations in level development roadways in coal or soft rock; circular head fitted with three radial cutting arms cuts out roadway 9.8 to 13.1 ft in diam; broken material is picked up by buckets at extremities of arms; PKG-2 machine can operate on inclinations up to 30°, producing roadway of 7.5 ft diam.
