Kentucky builds long continuous concrete box girder bridge
Bridge, with main span of 200 ft was built over Kentucky river on U S 68, 10 mi south of Lexington; abutments are supported by battered steel pile bents driven to rock; all pier footings are founded on hard lime; bridge designed for H 20-S loading, has 28-ft clear roadway and two 3-ft sidewalks; hollow box girder structure includes two 70-ft simple spans and continuous unit.
