Geology of dam sites on upper tributaries of Columbia river in Idaho and Montana
Hungry Horse dam site, in Flathead County, Mont, is suitable for high concrete dam, and leakage from reservoir area appears to be improbable; geologic conditions at dam site are relatively simple; low saddle in drainage divide of reservoir site limits maximum height of dam to 630 ft above foundation, but other considerations limit practical height to 500 ft.
