Floating concrete arch bridge
Floating bridge, arched in plan, across Derwent River at Hobart, Tasmania, is composed of 24 concrete barges each 132 ft long, between which projecting reinforcing steel was welded to combine two sets of 12 barges each into rigid half span segments; these two segments with their pin connection form three-hinged horizontal arch; arch length is 3165 ft; 40 ft width provides for 30 ft roadway, 6 1/2 ft sidewalk and space for water main.
