Stack effect in tall buildings
By stack effect is meant rise of warm air within building because of difference in weight between column of warm air within building and cold air outside, as in chimney; infiltration of cold air at lower floors displaces warm air upward and makes lower floors difficult to heat; effect most apparent in very cold weather; results of readings taken by placing recording thermometers of different levels in five buildings; data given in charts.
