Water hammer resulting from cavitating pumps
Model pipe line consisting of three pumps in series was constructed for purpose of determining mechanism of water hammer generation; water hammer was found to be result of vapor-cavity decay in cavitating pumps; theoretical analysis confirms model-test results and explains sequence of events in detail; solution to prevent cavitation of pumps.
