Research on variables affecting filtration
Using particulate suspension of plastic microspheres to conform with mathematical idealizations, it was found that filter efficiency varies inversely with grain size, inversely with filtration rate, and as inverse square of water viscosity; examples of different filter operations are calculated and compared using these relationships; other published theoretical and experimental studies are reviewed.
