Design and construction of mile long prestressed tunnel capable of accommodating six lanes of road traffic is described; tunnel is subaqueous rectangular concrete tunnel of trench type; method entails prefabricating tunnel in sections which later are floated over their final position on tunnel line, and then lowered in prepared trench in river bed.
