Difficulties during construction of railroad tunnel
Difficulties encountered during building of tunnel in region of Caserta, Italy on plateau consisting of detrital Paleocene Tertiary formations in facies of Flysh, are discussed; collapse of surface is described, and causes that may have given rise to landslide are analyzed; report on system adopted for construction of piers in correspondence with covers that were disturbed by landslide.
