Tilt and deflections of tapered polygonal towers
It is shown that calculation of tilt and deflections of tapered thin-walled tower with circular or polygonal cross section can be reduced to analysis of cylinder subjected to same loading; analysis uses thin-wall concept, superposition of bending and shear deflections, and membrane analogy in torsion as simplifying assumptions; shear deflections are defined as function of tower taper; shear form factors are obtained for all polygons.
