Simple apparatus for producing model tides
Satisfactory reproduction of natural tides in movable bed hydraulic models was obtained with specially developed simple tidal mechanism; water level in model is altered by pumping water from model basin into storage tank or by allowing water to flow back into model through solenoid-operated valve; operation of both pump and valve is controlled by tidal synthesizer that mechanically combines effects of principal harmonic tidal components and through float assures correct reproduction of natural tides in model; up to four tidal components can be included.
