A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Chronological listing of more important planes of reference that were used by U S Government on Great Lakes in charting operations, dredging, waterway construction, and hydraulic computations is presented; establishment of planes, how elevations of these planes above sea-level were determined, and some of major problems involved are examined; history of development of International Great Lakes Datum (1955), first international vertical control network to completely cover Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River system is described.
