Buckling loads for elastically supported struts
Buckling loads for axially loaded struts having elastic lateral support for which resistance to lateral displacement at any point is some function of displacement at that point only were determined in nondimensional form, for variety of end restraints; solutions were obtained using energy method, by expressing buckled shape of strut in terms of appropriate infinite series; two types of variation in lateral restraint along length of strut considered were uniform, and proportional to distance from end of strut; several cases of variation in axial load along length of strut are also examined.
