Analysis of irregular building frames
Moment distribution analysis of building frames in which members are not continuous from one boundary of frame to other is discussed; method of analysis consits of fixed-end and distribution stages; in first stage frame undergoes translation without rotation of joints; in second stage, unbalanced moments at joints are relaxed, one at time, by distribution procedure in which joint being balanced is rotated while all other joints are restrained against rotation; final moments are obtained in single distribution operation; numerical examples are given.
