Reconstruction Victoria Tower in house of lords
360 ft high Tower, built over 100 yr ago, was transformed internally to provide 17,000 sq ft of modern storage accommodation for unique accumulation of Parliamentary records; description of how much of interior was removed to provide air conditioned accommodation on extra floors; work was made very difficult by need to transfer loads from existing cast iron columns and beams, which were reasonably overstressed, on to new structural steelwork carried by 4 corner towers.
