How underwater seismics aided Thailand tin exploration
Seismic Profiler Sparker is marine sonic reflection instrument; horizons are detected by hydrophone; it is used to study shallow sub-bottom structures (to 1200 ft); peak acoustic energy is between 250 and 600 cps; to investigate deeper structures (to 14,000 ft) Gas Exploder is used; results of survey; maximum depths of channeling within area aided mining engineers to determine feasible and economical schemes of extensive dredging operations; tin occurs offshore as alluvial concentrations.
