Active pressure exerted by cohesionless materials under earthquake conditions
Mononobe-Okabe method, widely used in Japan for design of retaining walls and harbor structures, is described; derivation of formula is given with object of establishing basis for modifying available graphical methods for active pressure determination to include effects of seismic forces.
