Oxidation ponds and use of effluent in Israel
Evolution of sewage treatment in oxidation ponds in Israel over past decade; failures and successes of early ponds; results of random sampling and testing over several years at 5 plants, show that this simple method of treatment can achieve degree of purifioation comparable with that obtained in expensive, conventional plants; uses to which "partially" or " fully" treated effluent may be put are described as irrigation of industrial crops, recharging ground water, make-up water in fish-breeding ponds and direct industrial use.
