A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Test program by Vehicle Dynamics Dept of Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory, to determine effect of surface finish and road construction on friction forces attainable between specific tire and various wet surfaces under steady state nonrolling conditions; program provided data from more than 400 tested surfaces along approximately 6500 route mi of rural sections of major transcontinental routes; comparative effects of age and wear on friction coefficients of cement and bituminous asphalt roads.
