Prospect for more durable concrete through silicone admixtures
Tests conducted with Dow Corning 772, i.e., sodium monomethylsiliconate furnished at 30% solids in water; this silicone admixture to concrete is most effective between 0.2 and 0.4% total solids, based on weight of cement in mix; field trials and road tests with 772 show marked increases in durability and compressive and flexurual strengths.
