Port is on rocky, north shore of Gulf of St. Lawrence River; harbor provides Quebec Cartier Mining Co with storage and transportation facilities for their iron ore development at Lake Jeannine 200 mi to north; it is artificial harbor excavated on shore; facilities for safe loading throughout year of both lakers and seagoing vessels from 3000 to 100,000 tons dw are provided.
