New look at long-term anchorage -- Key to roof bolt efficiency
Comprehensive study was undertaken to determine anchorage losses for various shells installed in different materials; tests indicated that deeper grooves may be beneficial for softer material but detrimental in more competent rocks; large contact areas for 2 specially designed expansion shells masked effect of serrations to considerable extent, and effect of this parameter was not completely studied.
