Use of aerial surveys and topographic maps for projecting highway alignment
By use of modern methods projection and topographic maps developed from photogrammetry, location engineer can establish alignment and grades and avoid undesirable aspects of older methods of ground location; use of coordinate grid system; discussion of simple calculation methods and procedures for centerline projection, use of spline and spiral transitions, and introduction of transitions between compound curves.
