A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Seismic properties of Lake Maracaibo were investigated in extensive experimental program; controlling factor was found to be extremely low mud velocities produced by free gas in bottom mud; most important seismic phenomenon was singing, and its characteristics were investigated in detail; deviations from behavior expected from simple theory were found; strong, low-frequency mud wave was present; where mud was not too thick, normal dispersion occurred.
