Detailed observations were made at nine collieries; in one, district that was wholly supported on timber has since been converted to steel; steel conservation in thin seam; steel losses in thick seam; conveyor packing (stowage); concrete filled tube props; steel stilts; adjustable props; concrete blocks on main roads; steel arches; straightening steel.
