Drydock for ships up to 30,000 tons conceived in 1925; o.a. length 245 m., useful width 38 m., draft capacity at high tide 10.5 m.; original design modified, because of difficulties in construction; sections of reinforced concrete, in form of U-shaped boxes, built on floating dock and later sunk in places dredged to receive them; bottom compartments filled with concrete and sides with sand.
