Fish ladders for dams
Types of fish ladders adopted in Scotland, Ireland, France and United States; experiments by Denil show that water velocity in type installed in Belgium was too great, so he devised scheme of diffusers which reflected threads of stream back on themselves; device consists in ladder of wooden baffle plates through which water flows gently; it serves for slopes up to 45 deg.
