It is claimed that subjecting concrete to vibration before it has set is much superior to ordinary ramming; vibration may be applied by electric or pneumatic rappers acting on forms; internal vibration or pervibration, however gives better results, vibrator being immersed in body of concrete and rising with it; application of vibrations may result in five-fold or even greater increase in strength.
