Stabilization of surfaces of mine tailings dumps
Problems encountered in establishing growth of vegetation of South African sand dumps and slimes dams in order to prevent water and wind erosion; high acidity which develops on surface of slimes dams can be permanently leached out by controlled application of water; since dams vary greatly in ease with which vegetation can be established on them, only after examination of dump and analysis of samples can most suitable method be determined and detailed procedure worked out.
