Preserving survey monuments despite highway construction
Destroying and covering up survey monuments during highway construction that are required to preserve land ownership boundaries is discussed; care which needs to be taken to re-establish land survey corners and to maintain them; establishing monuments in center of 300-ft strip taken for superhighway is not adequate; they are made inaccessible by traffic and sometimes by chain-link fence; right-of-way limit markers are needed -- properly located, referenced, platted and maintained.
