Investigation into design of room and pillar workings in rock salt
Study of physical behavior of rock salt under rapid loading conditions and on long-term testing; influence of time dependency factor in relation to width/height ratios of specimens and their comparison with physical dimensions of pillars in mine; "time-safe-strength" of rock materials is related in first approximation to dimensions of pillars of varying width/height ratio; graphical solution relates mean stress on pillars due to cover load to percentage of extraction, width/height ratio of pillars, height of extraction, room span and pillar width; application of underground instrumentation to determine strain rates in pillars and strata control measurements.
