Steel platform detours autobahn traffic during repairs
Complete reconstruction of highways causing traffic bottleneck by detouring solved with demountable steel overlay sheets made up from interlocking transverse lengths laid on top of existing roadways; elements dimensioned for easy truck transport are hollow, 12.45 m wide by 2.40 m long and 0.30 m high; each unit is laid across two timber beams 7.80 m long, thus supported about 0.45 m above road surface; approaching vehicles reach and leave switch-over section by access ramps; steel plates are plastic sheeted for skid resistance.
