Moisture movement under roads in black soil area of Western Queensland
Distance of significant moisture variation from and to side of road and extent of subgrade unaffected by this lateral flux are determined; for subgrade, beyond range of seasonal moisture fluctuation, it is shown that drying conditions occur from pavement placement resulting in equilibrium moisture conditions; further field and laboratory testing enables relations to be shown between pF, moisture content, California Bearing Ratio, and density.
